Rite Aid Miracle Balloon Campaign helps children with critical healthcare needs

As the COVID-19 pandemic creates extraordinary need across the country, Rite Aid customers can support the life-saving work of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during a critical time through Rite Aid’s annual Miracle Balloon fundraising campaign.

Beginning July 12, Rite Aid customers can donate $1 or more at the register in-store or via the online donation prompt. Each dollar will make an impact for one child, one family and one community.

Every donation supports the local community’s children’s hospital to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, and to provide pediatric medical equipment and charitable care for 53 children’s hospitals in communities Rite Aid serves.

Thanks to the care and dedication of Rite Aid associates and the generosity of customers and supplier partners over the past 26 years, Rite Aid has helped kids like Alexis.

Alexis Simon was just 10 years old when she was hit by a car riding her bike near her home. Rushed to an acute care hospital, she underwent seven hours of surgery. She suffered a traumatic brain injury, a fracture of her C7 vertebrae, a broken leg, ruptured spleen and needed multiple skin grafts.

It’s been six years since Alexis’ tragic bike ride. Today, Alexis is an accomplished performer, having performed off-Broadway. She still bears the physical scars of her accident on her face, shoulder and arm but doesn’t let them bother her. She’s proud of her scars and uses her voice and story to advocate for kids like her.

The Rite Aid Foundation will also direct funds raised through KidCents, its customer-generated charitable giving program, to CMN through the duration of the campaign because kids can’t wait for a cure, a vaccine or for the curve to flatten.

Since becoming a corporate partner in 1994, Rite Aid has raised more than $95 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
